From Joyce Ritz, Sunday School, Mennonite

One girl in my class had talked several weeks ago about being scared when she goes to bed, and so she imagines that there is an angel at each corner of her bed. I said, ‘We can just make that up, but we need to know what the Bible really says.’ So we went to Psalm 34 and read, ‘the angel of the Lord encamps round about them that fear Him and He delivers them.’ We had to discuss “encamp” and “fear the Lord.” I explained what an army encampment was and she got so excited about it. She said, ‘Oh, that’s a good verse!’

This week she said the verse from memory. I said, ‘You memorized it’ and she said, ‘Yes, and there are a lot of other good ones in that chapter, too. She explained that when she doesn’t have anything to do at school, she gets her Bible out and works on memorizing the verses. She said that she isn’t afraid to go to sleep anymore.”
